The Gujarat Public Service Commission was established in the year May 1st 20160 according to the provisions of the Constitution of India. Currently, the GPSC's Chairman is M.T. Bhatt and its members P.R. Vaghasia and H.M. Patel are leading the GPSC. The Gujarat Public Service Commission disseminates below mentioned duties according to the Article 320 of the Indian Constitution.

GPSC organizes exams for the employment to the State Services and advises on issues concerned to the methods of selection to several Civil Services of the state and the principles to be followed in developing appointments to civil services of the State and approving promotions, transfers, from one department to another and the suitability of the employees for such appointments, promotions and transfers. GPSC also manages the disciplinary activities of the Government servants. 

The above mentioned functions of the GPSC are subject to the conditions executed by the Gujarat Public Service Commission (Exemption from Consultation) Regulations, 1960 made under proviso to clause(3) of Article 320 of the Indian Constitution.

GPSC has announced the results for the year 2011 for Class I and II.
