The Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) on Wednesday declared the results for the UP polytechnic entrance exam 2011.

This year JEECUP had relaxed the eligibility percentage for appearing in the examination with students getting 35 per cent marks in their SSC examinations (Standard X examination) being allowed to appear in the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2011.

A decision regarding this was taken by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) last week.

The previous eligibility criteria of 50 per cent marks in SSC examinations. The criteria not only went against the HRD ministry's move to popularise technical education, but also resulted in many seats lying vacant.
